Description
This simple plant watering system uses the BBC micro:bit Soil Moisture Sensor (available separately) to estimate the moisture level of soil and display it on the LED matrix screen. An optimum moisture level can be calibrated and using BBC micro:bit Water Pump you can then maintain that level. The sensor works by measuring a voltage related to the conductance of the soil and using it to estimate the amount of moisture in the soil.
The kit comes with example code for the BBC micro:bit to measure the moisture level and maintain healthy plant soil moisture however, you can edit it to suit your own needs, or encourage your students to work out how best to programme the BBC micro:bit for their specific needs.
